As we near the Easter period, we thought we’d throw it back to the time Lady Gaga spent some quality time in a giant egg for a whopping 72 hours.

The music icon is known for her outrageous outfits, including the infamous meat dress. At the 2011 Grammys, Lady Gaga wowed viewers as she was carried down the Red Carpet in an egg that she was in for a whole 72 hours! That’s what we call dedication.

Lady Gaga was in a giant egg for 72 hours – but she had no problems

Although everyone calls it an egg, the singer actually corrected fans as she took a look back at some of her most iconic outfits with British Vogue.

“Everyone calls this the egg but it’s actually a vessel that was designed by Hussein Chalayan,” she explained.

“I was in there for about 72 hours. It was a very creative experience,” she told Ryan Seacrest days after the 2011 Grammys on his KIIS-FM show.

However, it didn’t bother her, as she said around that time she “didn’t like to talk to anyone,” before Award Shows, as she felt it “through her off.” She also said the time spent in there showed her “dedication to the craft.”

“It was time for me to really prepare and think about the meaning of the song and get prepared for the performance. I really wanted to be born on stage,” Gaga told Seacrest.

At the time, she was promoting her hit single, Born This Way, and said she “was able to really stay in this sort of creative, embryonic incubation.”

As all eyes were on her, many fans may not have noticed her crew’s outfits, who were holding her up, completely nude latex.

However, she only made this decision the night before, as she felt the previous “fashion was all wrong.”

Luckily, they found the hard-to-come-by material at a bus company, who were covering their seats in latex, and bought it from them.

The meat dress may be the most memorable of all time

Despite being in the ‘egg’ for a whole 72 hours, it looks like Lady Gaga’s meat dress still may be her most memorable outfit of all time.

The 37-year-old wore the dress a year prior to the ‘giant egg,’ at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards, which was made entirely of raw beef.

The outfit shocked the world and also came with matching beef boots, clutch, and hat, which Cher iconically held as the singer accepted her award for the Bad Romance video.

Although it ‘smelled like meat’ (we feel sorry for anyone who was around her), the star said it was “thrilling to wear.”

However, it wasn’t 100% meat as she had previously explained to Vogue there was a corset underneath it, so she wasn’t just ‘draped in meat’.
