King Charles will be addressing the nation on Christmas day, and the monarch’s approach to the King’s Speech is making experts worry it might cause ‘fury’ with his aides.

The tradition of the monarch’s Christmas Day speech has been running for centuries. For royal followers, the ritual has become a staple every December 25. In 2022, almost 10.7 million viewers watched King Charles III deliver his first speech after ascending the throne. This year, the curiosity to tune in at 3 pm UK time to hear the King’s Speech remains even higher, as reports claim it has mostly been written by himself.

King Charles’ Christmas speech is worrying experts

The official Christmas speech by King Charles III has experts nervous, as the King reportedly wrote mpst of it himself without the help of his aides or advisories.

The ‘modern’ King believes he has the best connection with his audience when he takes more of an ‘off-the-cuff’ approach, a skill he learned as he grew older.

The monarch also has a history of giving impromptu speeches. Years before he became a king, the 75-year-old royal member once rewrote a speech sitting in the royal box at the Diamond Jubilee Concert on The Mall in 2012.

His instant connection with the followers was magnetic, he prompted the crowd to chant Prince Philip’s name very loudly in the hope he might get to hear it in the hospital. At the time, the then-Prince Charles’, who was addressing his mother the Queen, moved the crowd to tears.

“Harry and Meghan are unlikely to be mentioned”

Amid the turmoil between Harry, Meghan Markle, and The Firm, many followers are eager to know if the Prince will get a mention in the King’s speech.

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams does not think so. He says: “Harry and Meghan are unlikely to be mentioned. Omid Scobie’s Endgame, which was an attack on the monarchy and caused considerable controversy, certainly won’t be.”

“The King’s message, above party politics, will symbolize the continuity which the monarchy provides and which is so important,” he added.
